Communications Division: Seven Digit Non-Emergency Telephone Number
510-777-3333
The Oakland Police Department requests the help and cooperation of the community to ensure that 9-1-1 is used for emergency purposes only. Calling 9-1-1 for non-emergency assistance ties up telephone lines and operators, making it difficult for people with life threatening emergencies to get help.
777-3333 is easy to remember and easy to dial.
Use 777-3333 when you want to report a loud party, a barking dog, or any other noise problem.
Use 777-3333 when you want to make a police report for a crime that is NOT in progress or has NOT just occurred.
For example, use 777-3333 when you return home and find that your house has been burglarized in your absence and you KNOW the suspect is gone. This crime is a serious crime that you should report, but it is not life threatening.
Use 777-3333 when you want to report an abandoned auto or a car blocking your drive.
Direct dial telephone numbers such as those for the Jail, Animal Shelter, Criminal Investigations Units, or the Internal Affairs Division are listed in other areas of this organization chart and in the Government section of the white pages of your telephone book or can be obtained from the Directory Assistance operator (4-1-1).
