About Your Peer Support Team
---
The Oakland Police Department Peer Support Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team is made up of twenty–five members. All are connected to our family in one form or another, i.e. fellow officers, sergeants, command officers, technicians, dispatchers, chaplains, civilians, counselors, and psychiatrists. |
Each team member has gone through or is currently going through training related to critical incident stress issues and methods to assist fellow officers in recognizing and responding to a potential critical incident stress reaction.
Team members are here to help any department member seeking assistance.
Every team member works on a confidential basis, and no names are given to anyone else.
Many team members have specialized training in areas which include drug and alcohol counseling, relationships, family problems, life changes, marital issues, gay and lesbian issues, and stress and emotional distress.
Areas of specialty are identified on the Team Members page.
