
Mission Statement |
| It is the mission of the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) to assist and support the Oakland Police Department (OPD) in developing and maintaining a positive relationship between our police and community. |
| To fulfill this mission we as members of the CPAAA in conjunction with OPD will: |
| • Continue to educate ourselves concerning crime and its prevention. |
| • Share this education with the broader community. |
| • Focus attention through committees on various community projects. |
| These various roles will take priority in achieving this mission: |
| • Meet regularly on the first Wednesday of each month at the Eastmont Substation located at 2651 73rd Avenue, Oakland, CA. |
| • Gather information concerning OPD, especially information concerning community policing projects and priorities. |
| • Disseminate this information on as needed basis. |
| • Acquire grants for special projects to be defined by the CPAAA and OPD. |
| • Form committees to better allow the CPAAA members to focus their individual attention and interests. |
| How to Become a CPAAA Member |
| You can become a member of the CPAAA by graduating from a Citizen Police Academy held by the Oakland Police Department and submitting a CPAAA application. Members are eligible to hold office in the CPAAA. Dues will be assessed on an annual basis. |
| How to Become a CPAAA Associate Member |
Any person who lives or works in the City of Oakland is invited to become an associate member. All associate members will be given priority attendance at the next CPA session. Interested persons please contact Ms. Paula White at (510) 777-8618 or email pwhite@oaklandnet.com. |
| Typical Activities of CPAAA Include but Are Not Limited To: |
| Community Summit, Day at the Races, Officer Appreciation Day and Annual Christmas Party, OPD 150th Anniversary Year Book, PAL Activities, Police Academy Role Playing, Police Chief Conference, Police Oral Boards, Police Service Area Volunteer, Port Fest, Racial Profiling Panel, Raiders Football Games, and Special Olympics. |
