Your e-mail may be forwarded through several hands before it arrives at its appropriate destination, and it may be several working days or more before you receive a reply.
In general, your e-mail is handled in the fashion described below.
E-mail is opened by a civilian employee at 8 A.M. every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Requests abut employment as a police officer are forwarded to the Recruit Unit.
Request for Department patches and merchandise are answered upon receipt. The Oakland Police Department is unable to fulfill the many requests it receives for patches and merchandise.
Inquiries or requests concerning the web site are answer by the civilian employee in charge of web–site maintenance.
E-mail on all other subjects is forwarded to the Department Public Information Officer.
If appropriate, the Public Information Officer will answer your e-mail himself or herself.
If the Public Information Officer cannot answer your e-mail or if your e-mail requires a response from someone else within the Department, the Public Information Officer will forward your e-mail to the appropriate recipient.
