The selection process for Police Cadet includes a multiple–choice written exam, oral interview, computerized voice stress analysis (C.V.S.A.) exam, background investigation, and medical examination.
Written Exam
The first step in the process is the multiple–choice written examination. It measures basic skills such as inductive reasoning, reading comprehension, memory recall, and arithmetic. Photographic identification will be required to be admitted to the test. Applicants receiving a passing score on the written exam will be given a date and time for an oral interview.
Oral Board Interview
Successful candidates will participate in an oral board interview, which is designed to evaluate job–related skills and abilities such as oral communication, interpersonal skills, and judgments. In addition to general questions, candidates will be presented with hypothetical scenarios (either orally or on videotape) and asked to explain how they would respond in each situation. Provided candidates pass other required portions of the selection process, the score from the oral board determines one's position on the eligibility list.
